Wishlist Wednesday 1 6/20/12

Sorry guys that this is late I was not by any technology at all yesterday!
Wishlist Wednesday is hosted by Dani at pen top Paper
So you choose and showcase one book on your wishlist
Intrensical by Lani Woodland

So I've noticed a trend in books I've been adding to my wishlist lately. Alot of them have been involving ghosts including this one here.

Sixteen-year-old Yara Silva has always known that ghosts walk alongside the living. Her grandma, like the other females in her family, is a Waker, someone who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yara grew up watching her grandmother taunted and scorned for this unusual ability and doesn't want that to be her future. She has been dreading the day when she too would see ghosts, and is relieved that the usually dominant Waker gene seems to have skipped her, letting her live a normal teenage life. However, all that changes for Yara on her first day at her elite boarding school when she discovers the gene was only lying dormant. She witnesses a dark mist attack Brent, a handsome fellow student, and rushes to his rescue. Her act of heroism draws the mist's attention, and the dark spirit begins stalking her. Yara finds herself entrenched in a sixty-year-old curse that haunts the school, threatening not only her life, but the lives of her closest friends as well. Yara soon realizes that the past she was trying to put behind her isn't going to go quietly.

Every review and voting I'v4 seen has been 3 stars to 5 stars so I hope it will be a good read.
It being 304 pages will  make it a quick read too.

Cut: The review

Patricia McCormick

Info on book
Published  in February of 2002
Published by First scholastic/push printing
151 pages
YA Fiction

The story revolves around Callie, a teen girl who is currently a resident at Sea Pines a residential treatment center for girls. Based on the title I assume you can guess her addiction, cutting. The book revolves around Callie's visits with her counselor, time in the center, and flashbacks.
Callie starts as a unwilling participant of any form of treatment. She gives everyone the silent treatment earning her the nickname S.T. Callie wants nothing to do with the other girls at "sick minds" which the other girls have named Sea Pines. When new girl Amanda, a fellow cutter, joins their group and her counselor threatens that if she doesn't start talking soon her spot in the program will be given to someone else. Callie finally starts talking when she can no longer handle the silence.

The book is written where you the reader is a character, the counselor.
I like the characters and Callie's character's growth is believable to me.

The story doesn't start with her spilling her guts about everything like some other books do. In fact she never tell  anyone  in book the whole story yet.

This book only scratches the surface on the self mutilation topic. The book does not go in-depth of the characters problems. You never really understand the depth of any of their problems. If you are looking for an in-depth view on cutting you can't find it here.

I really liked this book and I would recommend it to anyone who just wants a peek into the self mutilation subject. Who knows it might make you want to find more books on real life problems.

Waiting on Wednsday 1

Hey guys welcome back to my channel! Since today is Wednesday I thought I would add a new section to my blog. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly MeMe created by Jill from In this meme we share books that we are waiting to be released. So lets get down to business shall we?
This weeks pick is ......

These broken Stars
Amie Kaufman

Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen never should have met. She’s the socialite daughter of the richest man in the galaxy, and he’s a decorated soldier fighting back rebellions on newly terraformed planets. But when the vast luxury spaceliner they’re both traveling on crashes, they find themselves thrown together as the two sole survivors on an alien planet.

As they survive harsh conditions and dwindling supplies—not to mention each other—the two begin to uncover a mystery surrounding the abandoned planet that neither of them could have guessed.

The first in a trilogy, THESE BROKEN STARS sets into motion a series of timeless, standalone love stories that span galaxies—and are linked by their shared worlds and one mysterious enemy.

Doesn't that sound interesting?
I really feel I need to read more science fiction stories and I think this book could be really interesting to pick up in try can't wait till its realese in 2013!

I am reading two books at the moment!!!
#1 Cut
Patricia McCormick
I've never read this even thought it has been sitting on my shelf for the last 5 years. I picked it up hearing that it was a good book to read if you have read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
at that time one of my favorite books. Ever since that day it has been sitting on my bookshelf collecting dust until I pulled it down today. So far I am enjoying what I have read so far.

                                                          #2 Redwall
                                                            Brian Jacques
Just like the last book this has been sitting on my bookshelf for a very long time even longer than the last one mentioned. Actually I don't know why this is on my shelf. Based on the summary the book doesn't seem like something I would of normally picked up. Action stories about animals are usually not something I enjoy. Maybe the book was picked up after I read The Tale of Desperaeux and was looking for a new book that also had a mouse as the main character. I haven't started this one yet but will be starting it as soon as I finish Cut

Look forward to book reviews on both of these books when I complete them
With love

Welcome to my new blog

Hey web people! Welcome to my new blog! I bet you can guess what my new channel is all about that's right BOOKS!! being an avid reader and loving to read other peoples blog book reviews and vlogs made me want to start my own. Books are my passion and my love. Though I realized I never really took a in depth look at anything I read until recently while I was viewing videos in the booktuber community. I want to also expand my blog to include writing and other interesting things I enjoy. Over all though this channel will be devoted to book related subjects from book reviews to book chats.

Have a booktastic day ~ Arya
